Increased Security for MIA Users Beginning December 7, 2006 On December 7, 2006, MIA-Member’s Internet Access users will now have an extra layer of security known as Two Factor Authentication when accessing their account online. Once logged into MIA, you will be directed to the authentication process. You will be prompted to answer 10 of the 20 questions displayed and asked whether or not you wish to authenticate that computer. By authenticating a computer, the system will recognize that computer the next time you log into MIA. If you answer no to authenticating a computer, each time you use that computer to log into MIA, you will be asked three randomly selected questions from the 10 questions you answered to verify your identity. After answering the three questions, the system will give you another opportunity to authenticate that computer. Remember, after authenticating a computer, the next time you log into MIA, you will not be asked to answer any of the three randomly selected questions. You should answer no to authenticating computers that are not yours or computers you might use in public places like a library or a kiosk. This is just another way to protect you and your personal information. If you have any problems using the two factor authentication, please contact Orelia Clay at (713) 650-3400. |
